CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION
We value the power of creativity and encourage the development of innovative approaches and solutions to improve teaching and learning. We embrace new ideas, methodologies, and technologies that can foster creative thinking among learners.
LEARNER-CENTEREDNESS
Innovation in education places the focus on the learner at the center. We value personalized and learner-centric approaches that recognize the uniqueness of the individual learner. We promote learner agency, engagement, and active participation in the learning process.
ETHICAL PRACTICE AND PROFESSIONALISM
We uphold high standards of ethical conduct, integrity, and professionalism. We demonstrate fairness and equity, and promote an inclusive learning environment by fostering positive relationships. We embrace a culture of lifelong learning through reflection, evaluation, and adaptation.
Our Core Values
Compassion
Compassion
This year’s theme centers on empowering educators to lead with compassion and empathy while addressing the challenges and opportunities of Artificial Intelligence and transformative technologies. Structured around three core pillars - Wellbeing, Personalized Learning, and Innovation - the initiative equips school leaders and educators to ethically harness AI’s potential in reshaping education. By fostering strategies that prioritize kindness and meaningful human connection, the goal is to cultivate learning environments where technology and empathy coexist, guided by an ethos of ethical responsibility and care.
CONFERENCE THEME
In 2024, Peng Wu demonstrated the
importance of adaptability by
recognizing the varied needs and
backgrounds of all learners and by
promoting personalized learning
experiences.
This approach empowered individuals
to gain new knowledge and skills,
preparing them to navigate future
changes with confidence.
Ultimately, Peng’s message of
fostering adaptability in education
aimed to cultivate resilient
individuals capable of thriving in a
dynamic and unpredictable world
while embracing the journey of
lifelong learning.
Peng Wu, FOLHK 2024
Adaptability
In 2023, Holly Clark showed us that the
power of play is an essential and
valuable aspect of the learning
experience, revealing how it can spark
creativity, deepen understanding, and
foster meaningful connections.
Holly demonstrated that play goes
beyond mere enjoyment - it cultivates
curiosity, encourages problem-solving,
and builds critical skills that enhance
learning and personal growth.
By integrating play into our lives, we can
unlock new ways of thinking and
approach challenges with a sense of
curiosity and resilience.
Holly Clark, FOLHK 2023
The Power of Play
In 2019, Carl Hooker showed us how to
take risks and explore future
possibilities by embracing both
successes and failures. He
demonstrated that while risks may lead
to setbacks, these failures are
opportunities for learning and growth.
Cultural fears of mistakes often
emphasize perfection, but Carl
reminded us that perfection is an
illusion. True progress comes from
acknowledging missteps and using
them as stepping stones for innovation.
By adopting this mindset, we unlock
the courage to take risks, adapt, and
thrive in an ever-changing world.
